DR. RODULFO PIMENTEL ESTEVES
He is the 5th child of the children of Jose Aquino Esteves, a public school principal and Leonida Carmarillo Pimentel a fashion school teacher. His parents hailed from Tayug, Pangasinan who migrated to Mindanao.
His parents’ values of hard work and frugality shaped the life of Dr. Esteves who followed his father’s great characteristic of industry which led the family to acquire lands and properties in Butuan City and the province of Agusan.
Dr. Esteves never stopped learning and earned 6 baccalaureate degrees such as bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Secondary Education, Bachelor of Elementary Education, Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Religious Education, and Midwifery. He has two masters degrees namely Master of Arts in Guidance and Master of Education in Guidance. He holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Development Education.
He is educated in prestigious universities such as the University of Mindanao (UM), the University of the Philippines, Diliman (UP-Diliman) and the University of Santo Tomas .
He enjoyed academic scholarship to earn different degrees such as the Ministry of Education (MEC-Philamlife) Scholarship program representing Region X1 with his second masters degree in the University of the Philippines, the Association of Catholic Universities of the Philippines (ACUP) scholarship program with his Doctorate in Philosophy at the University of Santo Tomas and the Faculty Development Program of the University of the Southeastern Philippines among others.
Dr. Esteves served the government as university professor (Professor VI) and director of the University Guidance and Testing Office for thirty years before he made an early retirement to the establish private institution. While serving the university, as an advocate, he founded the University of Southeastern Philippines Employees Union by virtue of Execution Order No. 180 and served as the first president.
In August 8, 1988, he founded the St. Peter’s Counseling Home Company in Davao City, the center which assisted the government in the rehabilitation of drug users and those with failing Mental health. In January 30, 1998, he founded the Holy Child Colleges of Butuan Inc., which offers programs from kindergarten to the graduate school. This institution enjoys the prestige of the being the official address of the international honor society in counseling; a member school of the Living peace international and accredited by the Department of Foreign Affairs to accept foreign students in all levels. On January 30, 2008, Dr. Esteves established the Holy Child Colleges of Butuan Hospital Company.
Other service-focused institutions were opened such as the St. Anthony Neuro and testing Center, HCCB Hospital Pharmacy, Jule Peter Clinical Laboratory, HCCB Mini Mart, HCCB Fast Food &Cafeteria, HCCB K-12 Canteen, HCCB Golden Cottage, HCCB Hotel in Pidro (Butuan City, Cebu, and Baganga, Davao Oriental), the HCCB Waterworld, among others. These composed the HCCB Social Enterprise. The revenues of the these establishments support the scholarship programs and community outreach programs of the founders of HCCB.
To serve the needs of patients of the HCCB hospital who cannot pay for hospital charges right away before being discharged, the HCCB ACCES Company was established.
When typhoon Pablo devastated the easternmost part of the Philippines in 2012, Dr. Esteves was deeply-touched by the plight of the parents of HCCB scholarship grantees from the indigenous communities of Davao Oriental. This led to the establishment of the Holy Child Colleges of Davao Oriental in the sprawling sixteen (16) hectares from the pacific Ocean to Baganga Bay , near the airport and adjacent to the seaport of the locality.
Dr. Esteves holds a Diplomate in Behavioral Medicine from International Academy of the Behavioral Medicine Counseling and psychotherapy (IABMCP), based in Colorado, U.S.A., He is Fellow on Hospital Administration from the Philippine College of Hospital Administrators (PCHA). He is also the adviser of the Chi Sigma lota Counseling Academic Professional Honor Society international.
As a great achiever, Dr. Esteves reaped various recognitions and awards.
DR. FELOMINO ABRENICA GARGAR
He is the 4th of the six children of Cosme Golez Gargar and Nicanora Temblor Abrenica of Saavedra, Moalboal, Cebu. His father was a livestock trader and a community leader having inherited the traits his father Sergio Gargar Sr. the undefeated leader until his death. His mother is a lover of education who had to stop schooling because of World War II.
Felomino or “Dodong” for his family and friends is a late bloomer who was awarded “Most Behaved” and “Most Clean” from Grade 1 and 2. He shines to be awarded First Honors from Grade 3 until high school years; he continued to reap Latin honors in college and in the graduate school.
Dr.Gargar is a graduate of the St. Francis College Seminary with a degree Bachelor of Arts/Classical Liberal Arts major in English and minor in Philosophy. He topped his class in the seminary and was the president of the student Council. A week after graduation from seminary, at the age of eighteen (18), he travelled to France and other European countries as the Philippine Delegate to the Council of Youth. After three years of sharing about the faith, culture, and other details about the Philippines, he continued his studies on Pastoral Theology in the St. Francis Xavier Regional Major Seminary of Mindanao.
One year before ordination to the priesthood, accidentally co-founded St. Peter’s Counseling Home in Davao City which later became the center for clinical pastor exposure for major seminarians before they will be ordained priests. While serving counseling cases, Dr. Gargar earned the degrees in Special Education, Psychology, Nursing and Midwifery. He also earned a Masters’ degree in Guidance and a Doctorate in Education
Aside from private practice, he was also professor VI and Dean of College of the University of Southeastern Philippines in Davao City where he served as Dean of the College of Education. He made an early retirement from government service to serve as Vice-President of Holy Child Colleges of Butuan and co-founded the Holy Child Colleges of Butuan Hospital.
Dr. Gargar is a well-travelled person and a leader. He is the President of the Chi Sigma Iota-Iota Phi Professional Academic Counseling Honor Society International, and the Founding President of the USEP Retirees Association, among others.
He is a licensed guidance counselor, licensed teacher, licensed psychometrician, accredited psychologist, Diplomate in Professsional Psychotherapy from the International Academy of Behavioral Medicine Counseling & Psychotherapy (IABMCP) and a Fellow in Hospital Administration from the Philippine College of Hospital Administrators (PCHA).
With his achievements and advocacy, he is a recipient of various awards.
